This historic Georgian cottage, despite numerous extensions over the years, required a cohesive design to unify its disparate elements. The goal was to create a sophisticated and inviting space that catered to both the family's everyday needs and the occasional influx of grandchildren.

To celebrate the stunning countryside views, we selected a soothing coloUr palette of soft, muted tones with accents of plum and blue. This palette, combined with dark bronze ironmongery and electrical switching, created a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic. Organic fabrics, such as textured linens and velvets, were used to add warmth and luxury. The existing art collection was carefully integrated into the design, complementing the overall scheme.

To enhance the period features of the cottage, we installed parquet flooring in a rustic grey oak, chunky textured carpets and rugs, and decorative cornicing and higher skirting boards. The new staircase, while maintaining a traditional style, was designed with a more elevated aesthetic to add a touch of luxury.

In the drawing room, a new limestone fireplace with a contemporary chrome fire grate and a bespoke central ottoman were commissioned. The chairs were reupholstered in a subtle animal print, adding a touch of glamour. The snug was transformed into a cosy retreat with vintage velvet upholstery in rich colours. A custom-made sofa and armchair were designed to fit the space perfectly, maximising comfort and style. Metallic studding in dark bronze, featured on sofas, chairs, and headboards, added a touch of luxury and sophistication.

The result is a timeless home that can be enjoyed by generations to come. This project demonstrates how careful planning and design can transform a historic property into a beautiful and functional space.
