VICTORIAN VICARAGE: A HERITAGE HOME RESTORED

THE BRIEF

A grand Victorian vicarage had lost its period charm through previous modernisation. The owners, a young family, wanted to restore its historic character while creating spaces that worked for contemporary living. Phase one focused on transforming the snug and home office into functional, elegant rooms.

OUR SOLUTION

In the snug, we created an evening retreat that balances heritage features with modern comfort. A Chesneys marble fireplace and log burner form the heart of the room, complemented by traditional wall panelling and aged-oak flooring. Textural elements include velvet and cotton textiles, anchored by a rich plum sofa. A considered bar area makes the space perfect for evening drinks.

The home office required more extensive restoration, beginning with crafting custom shutters to match those preserved in the snug. We centred the room around an extended dining table that serves as both workspace and multipurpose surface. A reading corner provides a quiet spot for reflection, while aged-oak flooring and cast-iron radiators merge period authenticity with modern performance. Through careful restoration and refined updates, these rooms now honour their Victorian heritage while meeting the demands of family life. We look forward to continuing the transformation of this historic home in Phase 2, bringing the same attention to detail to the remaining spaces.

THE RESULT

A home that balances period charm with modern luxury - proof that historic properties can deliver every contemporary comfort while maintaining their character.
