16th CENTURY FARMHOUSE: HERITAGE AND MODERN LIVING UNITE
THE BRIEF
A 16th-century farmhouse with a new oak-framed extension needed unifying into one cohesive home. The owners wanted to honour the building's heritage while creating contemporary living spaces that captured countryside views. The focus was on achieving seamless flow between old and new areas.
OUR SOLUTION
We created visual harmony through a considered palette of blues, greys, yellows and oranges, warmed by soft neutrals. These tones enhance natural light and bring year-round warmth to both the historic and modern spaces. A distinctive hexagonal pattern flows through the house, appearing in terracotta hallway tiles, reupholstered chairs and window dressings, subtly connecting different areas.
Wide oak boards run throughout, providing a natural bridge between old and new while bringing timeless character to every room. The oak-framed extension houses an open kitchen with traditional cabinetry and modern appliances, flowing into a peaceful kitchen snug. Above, the sunny master suite offers countryside views and includes an en-suite bathroom and dressing room.
THE RESULT
A home that celebrates its Tudor origins while embracing modern family life. Each space transitions naturally to the next, creating a house that feels at once historic and perfectly suited to contemporary living.
