THE BRIEF
A late 1800s stone house between Burford and Chipping Norton needed reimagining as a luxury holiday home. The owners, a family of global travellers, wanted to maintain authentic Cotswold character while introducing sophisticated international design elements. The space needed to function both as a practical family home and an indulgent retreat.
OUR SOLUTION
We developed every element of the transformation. From traditional ironmongery to contemporary lighting solutions, each choice was carefully considered to bridge rustic charm with modern luxury. Our joinery features honey-coloured oak and rustic rattan to complement the natural stone.
The material palette celebrates local heritage - Cotswold stone and rustic oak beams provide context for luxurious fabrics and finishes from around the world. In the living spaces, we balanced practical family needs with sophisticated entertaining areas, creating zones that flow naturally while serving distinct purposes.
Despite the distance, our involvement extended to every detail - from specifying the profile of limestone windowsills to selecting switches and sockets that complement both traditional and contemporary elements. Regular site visits and comprehensive specification documents ensured our vision translated perfectly from paper to reality.
THE RESULT
A sophisticated holiday home that honours its Cotswold heritage while embracing international luxury. The house now offers all the charm of a traditional stone property with the comfort and style of a high-end retreat.
