IN PROGRESS / GEORGIAN GEM: A HERITAGE HOME REBORN

THE BRIEF

A late 1600s Grade II listed Georgian house in Malpas, Cheshire, needed comprehensive restoration and modernisation to become a forever family home. The owners sought to preserve and enhance the property's historic character while creating comfortable, practical spaces for modern living.

OUR SOLUTION

Despite the geographical distance, we maintained close involvement in every aspect of the specification process. Each detail was carefully considered, from the profile of skirting boards to the finish of light switches. We created detailed schedules for ironmongery, lighting, sanitaryware and joinery, ensuring every element honoured the home's heritage while meeting contemporary standards.

The colour palette draws from the Georgian era but feels fresh and current - neutral tones provide a timeless backdrop, while rich blues and soft greys add sophisticated depth. Each room received individual attention, with paint colours and fabrics selected to enhance original features while creating a cohesive flow throughout.

We specified traditional materials and techniques where possible, ensuring authenticity while improving comfort. Every decision, from fabric choices to furniture placement, was made with both historic sensitivity and modern functionality in mind. Site visits and regular client communication ensured our vision remained true to the brief despite the distance.

THE RESULT

A Grade II listed home that bridges centuries with grace - where original features shine alongside carefully chosen modern comforts. The transformation proves that with meticulous attention to detail and respectful design choices, historic properties can become comfortable family homes without compromising their architectural integrity. The project stands as testament to successful long-distance collaboration, where careful planning and clear communication brought a complex vision to life.
