OUR LATEST FAVOURITE COUNTRY HOTELS
Here are some of the country hotels that have been catching our eye lately.
First up is the Double Red Duke (what a great name) which is a 16th century coaching inn, in Clanfield in the Cotswolds. Newly-renovated, the 19 bedrooms offer the perfect family stay with colourful, relaxed interiors and delicious food. This charming boutique hotel also hosts wine tasting and live music evenings so there is always an event to keep you entertained.
A fabulously-glamorous hotel, restaurant and spa in Surrey, between Leatherhead and Dorking, is Beaverbrook. The former home of Lord Beaverbrook, a prominent politician, and designed by Susie Atkinson, the hotel now welcomes families and dogs to its luxury 470 acre estate and has a cinema, bicycles, 2 tennis courts and 3 pools to keep everyone entertained.
Next up is Number One Bruton in Somerset, a 12-bedroom, independently-owned hotel designed by Frank & Faber. The hotel has partnered with Osip, who offers farm-to-table menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The collection of buildings was once part of the White Hart, a large coaching inn which existed since medieval times and every care has been taken to restore and update the buildings.
And finally, recently brought to our attention by clients of ours, is the Victorian mansion set in 35 acres right on the Thames in Windsor, Oakley Court. Designed by Eagle & Hodges, the hotel features sumptuous bedrooms, a kitchen garden, spa, tennis courts, and restaurant overlooking the river.
